Especially Juliette's family

First of all, his father, Jules, or Julius Sohn. No paper ever gives his date or place of birth.

He would be Alsacian, but I learned not to trust the family tradition - or legend, better to say -. I wonder whether he would not be born in one on the german territories that were french departments under Napoleon.(Bade, Rhenan Prussia, Palatinat... ). He was born around 1807 and made a carrier in french army.

The clues :

  • His daughter's name, Frederika, typically german.
  • In the convoi in 1848 (the 15th), he his flag-bearer. That position was given only to former soldiers.
  • He married a french girl, Mélanie Boutmy, they would have made the wedding in the Vienne department (in garrison?)
  • He died, may be in Algeria, according to Juliette on the 23rd of July 1856.But his death is not listed in the Archives of Aix-en-Provence that get all the civil records from our former colonies.
The death of her mother, Mélanie Boutmy, on 9th of January (or July ?)1877, at Ouled Rahmoun, near Constantine. Aix and Nantes (foreign civil records) have no track of it.
Her brother Georges, who would be dead on 26th of January 1963, in Mexico. Killed in action in the stupid mexican war of Napoleon ?

Then, the Koiransky....

The three Koiransky brothers who emigrated to the States :

  • Alexandre Koiransky, Social Security card n° 061-12-1909, issued in New York before 1951, he is born on 21st of February 1882 in Saint Pétersbourg, and died on 4th of December 1968 at Palo Alto, son Arnold Koiransky, and of a lady born Delasyy. .
  • His brother Henry-Gennadi, Social Security card n°134-18-1205, doctor, who arrived in New York after having lived in Berlin. He worked in a hospital in Manhattan. He was born on 31st January 1881, also in Saint-Pétersbourg, and died in September 1981, at San Diego, California.
  • A third brother, maybe named Eugen, or at least a brother of Gennadi, listed on New-York'S census. He might be dead quite early, too early to get a Social Security card, or he left the States, because he is not listed in the beneficiaries of Social Security Cards... Or, but I donÄt believe it, he is still living.

And two women, maybe spouses :

  • Marianne Koiransky, born Desroches,on 5th of Aprill 1890, died in May 1981, at Palo Alto (Card n°552-21-9126)

  • Rose Koiransky, born on 24th December 1884, died in May 1964, againin California. (Card n°140-20-7692)

I asked for the copies, conforming to regulations and costs, but did not receive any answer. I think their father, Arnold, was a cousin or an uncle of my great-grand-father Haim, maybe even his father having a second spouse..
